HAVERHILL - Alfred John Purcell Jr., of Haverhill, Mass., and Wolfeboro, N.H., passed away on January 28, 2018. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 24, 1931, the only child of Alfred John Purcell Sr. and Lydia Hollfelder Purcell. He grew up in Wellesley, Mass., and graduated from Wellesley High School, the University of Vermont, and received an MBA from Babson College. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was the retired President of Heald Division, of Cincinnati Milacron, where he worked for over 30 years. He was also a Past Chairman of the Board of Associated Industries of Massachusetts.
Al is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn (Aldrich), originally of Norwich, Vt., as well as sons Alfred III, and his wife, Darlene, of Woodstock, Conn., and Philip Edward, and his wife, Andrea, of Ashby, Mass. Also surviving are grandchildren, Corey, Sarah, Philip Anthony, Hannah, Brenna, and Alaina; and step-grandchildren, Kaylee Duval, and Dominique Kintzer.
