LAWRENCE, MA - Aurele (Al) P. LaChance, of Lawrence, passed away on January 31, 2018, at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home, at the age of 87. His loving wife of almost 68 years, Lucille, was at his side, providing support and comfort during his final hours. Al was born in Cambridge, Mass., on May 19, 1930, and educated in Lawrence schools. He remained in the Lawrence area working for different manufacturing companies, including Pacific Mills, where he met his future bride, Lu, as Lucille liked to be called. Al retired from Raytheon Company, in 1992, and spent his retirement years hunting and fishing, his lifelong passions, along with gardening, and entertaining his grandchildren. Al and Lu were regulars at many Lawrence area restaurants, where everyone knew his name. He loved to joke, and everyone looked forward to hearing his many stories, particularly about his grandchildren. His favorite place to be was Plum Island, where he and Lu would spend a week or two every summer, initially with his children, and later with his grandchildren, providing memories that will last forever.
Aurele is survived by his wife, Lucille (Dupuis) of Lawrence; three sons, Richard, and his wife, Colleen, of Wilbraham, Mass., Michael, and his partner, Peter Geotis, of North Port, Fla., Ronald and his wife, Linda of Huntersville, N.C.; daughter, Debra Gill, and her husband, Bruce, of Summerville, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers, Richard (Dick), Roland, Claude, Robert; and sisters, Janine and Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Lumina, and a brother, Gerald.
