Barbara A.'s Story
Barbara A. Harrigan, 76, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 9, at Ashland Farm, North Andover, with her family by her side. She was born in Lynn, Mass., to the late John J. and Barbara (Priest) Harrigan. Barbara was educated in the Georgetown School System and was proud of her accomplishments as a star athlete playing basketball for Georgetown High School.
She was an avid sports fan, loved the Boston Red Sox and proud that she was a 32-year season ticket holder of “her” Boston Celtics. One of her greatest passions was being in the company of family and friends. Barbara was the Registrar for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Commission for the Blind where she worked for over 50 years until her retirement in 2014. She is survived by her sisters, Bernice E. Sailer of Ohio and Catherine J. Tiffany of North Andover, Mass.; nieces, Joan M. Thwaite and her husband, James of Ohio, Susan M. Michaud and her husband, Leonard of Ohio, Scott Tiffany of Kingston, N.H., Mark Tiffany and his wife, Susan of Amesbury, Mass., Matthew Tiffany of Seabrook, N.H.; and many great-nieces.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, November 18, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. A brief service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. A gathering will be held after her service at the Bradford Tavern, 87 Haverhill Street, Rowley.
