Barbara F. (Lewis) Gangi

West Newbury - Barbara F. (Lewis) Gangi, age 78, longtime West Newbury resident, passed peacefully in the quiet surroundings of the High Point House in Haverhill, with her loving family by her side late Wednesday evening, August 8, 2018.
Born in Everett, on February 7, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Franklin B. Lewis, Jr. and Mildred M. (Doyle) Lewis, and was a graduate of Malden High School.
For many years Barbara had worked as a legal secretary for various law offices. She also worked many years for the Town of West Newbury, filling various positions as needed, as well as for John Cena, Sr., Real Estate Appraisals.
A woman of great faith, Barbara was a longtime, active member of St. Ann’s Church of West Newbury, where she taught Religious Education and later became a co-director.
In addition to the love of her life, her husband of 53 years, Victor A. Gangi of West Newbury, she is survived by her three children, Deborah L. Wing-Merrill and husband Butch of North Reading, Laurette E. Thornell and fiancé Steven Merrill of Haverhill and Victor J. Gangi and wife Cyndie of Beverly; her six adoring grandchildren, Seth Wing, Aidan Thornell, Connor Thornell, Alexander Gangi, Carina Gangi and Sonia Gangi; two brothers, Frank B. Lewis, III and wife Sandy of Henderson, Nev. and Larry Lewis and wife Jean Fallowfield of Laguna Beach, Calif.; a sister, Tracy Kraft of Henderson; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She has impacted each of their lives in a very special way and will continue to live in their hearts forever.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Highland Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury. A Funeral Mass will held Thursday, August 16, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, 300 Main Street, West Newbury, followed by burial in Bridge Street Cemetery. Donations in her honor can be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843 or to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, 72 East Concord Street, Suite C3, Boston, MA 02118.
