NORTH ANDOVER, MA - Barbara "BJ" Johnson, Hilton, Hinckley, aged 73, passed away peacefully, January 13, 2018, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass. She was born September 4, 1944, in Methuen, Mass., to Clarence E. and Alice A. (Hebert) Johnson.
Barbara was a graduate of Andover High School, Class of 1963, as well as a graduate of McIntosh Business School. Barbara started her business career at Liberty Mutual and left in 1973 to pursue a life in the security field. In 1978 she and Ken Hilton, Jr. opened B&K Locksmith and took over Wilco Security, supplying guards throughout the Lowell area. She married her first husband, Kenneth Hilton, Jr., in 1984 in North Reading. When Ken died in 1992 she continued running Wilco Security until her retirement. At that time she opened BJ's Pet Sitting and ran that until she finally retired in 2015.
Barbara lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, spending many years at Hampton Beach, eating and traveling with her best friend of 55 years, Nancy Houghton, and spending time with all her dogs both past and present, Lady, Tramp, Cookie, Rosie, Randy, and her two current loves, Ladybug and Bear. Barbara had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.
