MERRIMAC, MA - Beatrice Jean (Ricker) Roy, age 80, longtime Merrimac resident, passed peacefully Tuesday morning, February 6, 2018 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Gerard J. Roy, who died April 4, 2013.
One of 10 children of the late Myron and Mary R. (Kelly) Ricker, she was born in Georgetown on August 11, 1937 and was a graduate of Perley High School in Georgetown with the Class of 1955. For many years Beatrice was the bookkeeper for her husband's business, Gerard Roy Trucking Company, and was also a School Bus Driver for the town of Merrimac.
First and foremost she was dedicated to her family and showered them with all her love, gave them her undivided attention, and taught them the important life lessons to follow. She was their mentor and their protector, always watching, always guiding, always there for them.
Beatrice was a faithful, longtime communicant of the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Redeemer Parish of Merrimac, where she was a former member of the Women's Club and the Church Choir.
She leaves behind countless special memories for her children, Gerard J Roy, Jr. and wife, Cindy of Merrimac, Cindy Haskell and husband, Robert of Merrimac, Darlene Sieczkowski and husband, Michael of Plaistow, NH, Sheila Wallace and husband, John of Merrimac and Edward Roy and wife, Michele of Merrimac; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Myron Ricker and wife, Maryellen of Georgetown, William Ricker of Georgetown and Thomas Ricker and wife, Mary of Ellenton, Fla.; six sisters, Joan Wright and late husband, Robert of Georgetown, Betty Ann Langlois and late husband Harvey, Phyllis Ricker and life partner, Gail Renaud of Andover, Alice Sarandos and husband George of Lowell, Pamela Camelieri and late husband Joseph of Georgetown and Terri MacNeil and husband, Douglas of Bradford, along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Visiting hours at Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, will be Friday, February 9, 2018 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Redeemer Parish, 4 Green Street, Merrimac. Burial in Locust Grove Cemetery will be private for the family.
