SALEM, NH - Charles T. McMahon, of Salem, N.H., died at Sutton Place in North Andover, on February 16. He was 86.
Born in Newton, Mass., on January 10, 1932, he was the son of Charles H. and Cora (Clark) McMahon. He was raised in Watertown, graduating from Watertown High School in 1951. After serving four years in the U.S. Air Force, he obtained a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Lowell. He worked for AVCO, Honeywell, Sylvania, and Lincoln Labs in Bedford, Mass.
Charles was active in local and state politics. He worked as a staff member with U.S. Senator Tom McIntyre for seven years. He also served as former chairman of the Rockingham County Democratic Party, former N.H. State Representative, former Chairman of the Salem School Board, during construction of the new high school, and served on various Salem boards and committees over a 30-year period.
He was predeceased by his first wife, mother of his six children, Edelgard (Guier) McMahon; and daughter, Erin Patricia. He is survived by his daughters, Rowena, and husband, Elliott Pratt, of Amherst, N.H., Heidi McMahon, of Melbourne, Fla., and Kirsten McMahon, of Derry, N.H.; his sons, Charles E. McMahon, and wife, Kim, of Windham, N.H., and Chris McMahon, of Merritt Island, Fla.; his grandchildren, Charles Trevor McMahon, Shane McMahon, Brittany McMahon-Bergeron, and husband, Nicholas, Ryan McMahon, Sarah McMahon; great-granddaughters, Brooke and Noelle McMahon-Bergeron; stepdaughters, Michelle and Susan Taibbi; and predeceased by his second wife, Beverly Boylan.
