Chester "Chet"'s Story
Chester ‘Chet’ W. Norton Jr., 75, died on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Francis) Norton, until her passing in 1991.
Chet was born in Lowell, on October 7, 1942, a son of the late Dorothea (Manahan) and Chester W. Norton Sr. He was educated in Lowell and was a graduate of Wentworth Institute, where he earned his Master Electrician’s License. For 26 years, Chet worked as an electrician for Emcore-Millipore.
Chet was an automobile enthusiast, with a special interest for Corvette’s. He enjoyed camping, biking, snowmobiling, kayaking, hiking, and skiing. Chet was an active member of the Marsh Corner Community Church, where he was a Sunday School Teacher for many years.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughter, Wendy (Norton) Nelson and her husband Jeremy of Ipswich; his two grandchildren, Heather and Alex; his best friend Rachel Walmsley of Chelmsford; and his two sisters, “Cissy” Gleason and her husband William of Lowell, and Robin Rondo and her husband, John of Connecticut.
Chester "Chet" Norton, 75, of Dracut. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 24th at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 25th, at 10 a.m. at the Marsh Corner Community Church, Methuen. Burial to follow in Richardson Cemetery, Dracut.
