Daniel F.'s Story
Daniel F. Millett, 87 years of age and longtime resident of Amesbury, died on Monday, November 27, 2017, at Anna Jaques Hospital with his wife by his side.
He was born in Amesbury, on July 14, 1930 to the late Harrison E. and Marjorie E. (Gould) Millette and was a graduate of Amesbury High School.
Mr. Millett was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving with the United States Navy from August 31, 1953 until his honorable discharge on July 14, 1955 with the rank of CD 3.
Among his many jobs, he retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where he worked as an overhead crane operator.
Dan loved horse back riding, riding his motorcycle with his wife Mary, and loved his life in general.
A life member of the American Legion, the VFW and the DAV, he was also a Shriner and very active in the Aleppo Bagpipe Band for many years, where he was a member and Pipes Major.
Dan is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Kammer) Millett, his children, Daniel J. Millett of Florida, Michelle (Millett) Thone of Florida and Charles T. Millett of Florida; his grandson, Adam D. Millett of N.H. and his granddaughter, Lindsey Thone of N.H.; his great-granddaughter, Adora Rose Thone of Haverhill; his brother, Robert F, along with countless nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Herbert, Richard P., Harrison E. Jr., Joseph W., Arthur C., and sister, Elizabeth S. Page.
Visiting hours at the Highland Street Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 2 Hillside Avenue, Amesbury, will be Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 12 to 2:30 p.m. immediately followed by Masonic Services by Charles C. Dame Lodge and Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA 02114.
