Dr. Arthur C.'s Story
SALEM, NH- Dr. Arthur C. Provencal, 75, longtime resident of Salem, NH passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Parkland Medical Center, Derry, N.H.
Arthur was born in Lawrence, Mass. and grew up in Methuen, Mass., the son of the late Arthur J. and Rita (Domingue) Provencal. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, Lowell Tech, Palmer College of Chiropractic and he served in the US Navy. Arthur owned and operated Provencal Chiropractic and he was affectionately referred to as "Doc" or "Dr. Art." He practiced in the Greater Salem area for over 30 years. Arthur was an active member of St. Joseph Church, where he sang in the church choir (The Atonement Band). He also sang in the Lake Havasu City Community Choir while in Arizona. Arthur was Past Exalted Ruler and an Honorary Life Member of the Derry-Salem Elks, Past President of the Derry Lions Club, Past Sachem of the Saggahew Tribe of the Improved Order of Red Men in Methuen and had served as President of the NH Chiropractic Association. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife; Linda J. (Arsenault) Provencal of Hampstead, N.H.; his six children; Sherri Levesque and her husband, Mark of Concord, N.H., Michelle Agostinelli and her husband, Bruce of Gahanna, Ohio, Tracy Hausler and her husband, Jeffery of Auburn, N.H., Tarra Johnson and Jasen Cyr of Hampstead, NH, Christian Chesbrough and his wife, Sarah of Candia, N.H. and David "Gus" Chesbrough, Jr. of Methuen, Mass. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, a great granddaughter many nieces and nephews and by two brothers; Ronald Provencal and his wife, Mary of Salem, N.H. and Paul Provencal and his wife, Linda of Manchester, N.H. He was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Provencal.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Church, 40 Main St., Salem. Cremation will follow.
