Edith F.'s Story
Edith F. (Frechette) Charest, 90, of North Andover, Mass., passed away peacefully December 1, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 3, 1927, in Lawrence, Mass., and was one of 11 children of Alice (Fluet) and Louis Allyre Frechette.
Edith’s life was centered around her loving family and her deep faith. She was an LPN, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a multi-talented, self-taught woman, who was an expert at everything she tried. She was a master seamstress and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, tatting, and knitting.
Edith will be remembered for her spitfire personality, warm and unwavering smile, sense of humor, strong spirit, and amazing foot rubs. She was truly the heart of the family and loved by all who knew her.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Alfred J. Charest; her children, Alice E. Charest-Aldro (husband, Clay), Richard A. Charest (wife, Sue), Marie Charest-Nelson, Jane Soucie, Brenda Charest, and Betsy Abou Ezzi (husband, Michael); her brother, Paul Frechette of Hudson, N.H.; 13 grandchildren, April, Mike, Nicole, Mark, Mike, Melissa, Daniel, Hollie, Keith, Laura, Matt, Luke, Tony, Suzy, and Natalie; 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan C. Charest-Simone.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Conte Funeral Homes, 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA 01845. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Parish, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA 01845, on Wednesday, December 6, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 29 Barker Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.
