Edmund F. "Buster" Lucey

March 19, 1922 - April 14, 2018

Groveland, MA - World War II veteran Edmund F. Lucey Sr., 96, died peacefully April 14, 2018, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

Born March 19, 1922, in Haverhill, son of Patrick and Mildred (Currier) Lucey, Ed Lucey served as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marjorie, brother Joseph, wife Joan M. (Everett) Lucey, and son Dennis P. Lucey, all of Massachusetts.

Lucey served as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Haverhill for more than 30 years, and was a member of the Haverhill Chapter, VFW. He was a devout member of St. James Catholic Church in Haverhill, and a talented artist who showed his oil paintings throughout the region. He loved baseball, played first base in high school, and later in community leagues, and was a great fan of the Red Sox.

He lived for the past 13 years at Nichols Village in Groveland, Massachusetts, where he developed many close friendships.

Lucey is survived by his daughter Patricia J. Lucey (Gary Weinhold), of Ontario, Canada, and their children and grandchildren; daughter Joanne M. “Jodie” Lucey Ahern (Larry Millett) of St. Paul, Minnesota, and their children and grandchildren; son Edmund F. Lucey Jr., of Deerfield, New Hampshire, and his sons and their families; as well as many nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren, in-laws and ex-in-laws, and a multitude of friends.
Visitation will be held at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, Wednesday, April 18, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. James Catholic Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill, on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate in his name to any charity that helps children or veterans.
