NEWBURYPORT- Edward W. Kimball, 93, of Newburyport, peacefully passed away in the company of his family on February 7, 2018 at Atria Assisted Living in Newburyport. He was a long time resident of Haverhill. He served in the US Navy during World War II, and due to his heroic actions in combat, was awarded the Bronze Star and authorized to wear the Combat "V". He was also awarded the Purple Heart for the serious wounds he suffered during his service. Returning to civilian life after the war, he was a constant contributor to the Haverhill community. He was deeply committed to education and served on the Haverhill School Board continuously from 1952-1973. After retiring from John Hancock Life Insurance Company, he began a new career as a teacher and educator at Whittier Vocational Technical School. In retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed traveling with his wife, H. Patricia (Pat) Kimball, and visited many locations in this country and the Caribbean, as well as travels to Japan, Hong Kong, France, and Sweden. He was an avid gardener, who had glorious flower and vegetable gardens year after year. His biggest prize and interest was his family, and he was also theirs.
