Estelle "Stella"'s Story
Estelle ”Stella”(Cardoza) Saab, 93, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley in Billerica, Mass. Estelle was an 80-year resident of Lawrence, Mass. She also resided in her later years in Dracut, Mass.
Estelle was born July 8, 1924, in Lawrence, Mass. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Virginia (Santos) Cardoza. She was the widow of Habib ”Cappy” Saab.
Estelle graduated from Lawrence High School, Class of 1942. Her most important job was homemaker and mother but she also worked for Frank C. Meyer Shoebox Factory and in retail at Little Town Toggery and Almy’s Department Store. She did work as a teacher’s aide for the Lawrence Public Schools, mostly at the Frost and Wetherbee Schools.
She enjoyed being a member and officer of the Portuguese-American Ladies Civic League. She was a lifelong parishioner and CCD instructor at Sts. Peter and Paul Church until its closure in 2004. She was involved in the PTO at the Frost School. She joined with other friends as “Monday Nighters” for many years crocheting and playing cards. She especially loved the trips she took to Villa Roma in New York. She will be remembered as a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who greeted you with a smile each and every time she saw you.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Kulig; her daughter, Nancy Baker and her husband, Christopher; her granddaughter, Rachel Smith and her husband, Trevor; her grandson, Michael Kulig and his wife, Lindsey; granddaughter, Danielle Dickson and her husband, Scott; and grandsons, Martin Kulig and Andrew Baker. She also was a great-grandmother to William, Addison, Emma, James, and David. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ezilda Silva Murphy, Adeline Cardoza; and her brother, Charles Cardoza; as well as her son-in-law, David Kulig. She was also predeceased by her close friend, Viola Nahill, and her godchild, Virginia Nahill Noonan.
At this time the family would also like to thank and commend the staff at Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley for the care and kindness they gave Estelle during her time with them.
Friends and guests are invited to call on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence St. Methuen, MA from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at 9:00 AM at St. Francis Church, 115 Wheeler Rd, Dracut, MA. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
