Eugene A.'s Story
Eugene A. Autiello, 89, of Lawrence, passed away October 4, 2017 at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Lucy (Vitale) Autiello.
Eugene was born October 14, 1927 the son of the late Paul and Adele (D’Agostino) Autiello. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. Eugene was the former Assistant Director of the Lawrence YMCA and was employed as a Foreman with Malden Mills in Lawrence.
He was a member of The Disabled American Veterans in Lawrence, a past president of The Polish-American Veterans Organization where he enjoyed teaching weight-lifting. Eugene had a passion for weight-lifting entering weight-lifting competitions, swimming and played a mean game of 45's. But mostly he loved his family and was passionate about his girls and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
In addition to his loving wife, Lucy, Eugene is survived by his four children, Cynthia Autiello of Lawrence; Barbara and husband, Scott White of Windham, N.H., Gina and husband, Allen Croteau of Derry, N.H., and Kim and husband, John O'Neil of Haverhill. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, and Kerry White; Kelsey and Kyle Croteau, and John, Timothy, and Erin O'Neil. He is also survived by his brother, Raymond Autiello, Sr. and wife, Angie, sister; Geraldine Dahrouge and husband Joe; sister-in-law, Nancy Autiello and several nieces and nephews.
Eugene was predeceased by his brother, Paul Autiello.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 9, 2017 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Burial will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
