Frances Secord (Rich), 81, of Center Harbor, N.H., died peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer on October 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Frances was the beloved daughter of the late John and Helen Rich of Reading, Mass., and was also predeceased by her brother, John Rich Jr. Fran was a devoted mother of three children raised in Andover, Mass., Karen S. Keefe and her husband, Owen F. of Bradford, Mass., Christine S. Neverett of Nashua, N.H., and Richard T. Secord Jr. of Center Harbor, N.H. She was the cherished grandmother “Mimi” of Lauren and Cameron Keefe, Emily and Hannah Neverett, and Jonathan and Hunter Secord.
Frances was born on December 4, 1935. Fran attended Reading High School. She graduated from University of Maine, in Orono, with a degree in Education. After a brief career as a teacher, she focused on her true passion of raising a family in Andover, Mass.
As a child, Fran spent her summers at Harlow’s Landing on Cape Cod, Mass. She held many memories from the beach close to her heart and always found happiness searching for seashells and watching the waves meet the shore. Fran later enjoyed many summers and weekends up at her house on the beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee before deciding to permanently reside in the town of Center Harbor. Fran looked forward to her Friday mornings with her beloved friends that made up the group of “www’s." She spent endless hours working in the community for countless organizations, caring deeply for each one. She was also an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Fran will be remembered for her sense of humor, tremendous strength, positivity, and her loyalty to her friends and family.
The Secord family wishes to acknowledge Merrimack Valley Hospice for the exceptional care provided to Fran.
