Gaspare "Gus"'s Story
SALEM, NH - Gaspare "Gus" Gucciardi, age 84, of Salem, N.H., died Thursday at Greystone Farms, Salem, N.H.
Gus was born in Lawrence, Mass., where he grew up and attended schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1951. He was a resident of Salem, N.H., for over 50 years.
Gus was a retired plant manager for Vernon Plastics in Haverhill, Mass. He previously worked for Bolta-General Tire in Lawrence, Mass., for over 30 years. He was a US Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Salem, N.H.
Gus was very active in Salem Little League and Senior League baseball, having won several league championships. He played in the Salem men's softball league with the 400 Lounge Stabbers, where he met many lifelong friends. He was an avid golfer, a member of Crystal Springs Golf Club and organizer of the "Sicilian Open."
Gus was the son of the late Antonio and Antionette (Lombardo) Gucciardi who immigrated from Sicily to Lawrence in the early 1900s and worked in the Lawrence textile industry.
Gus was predeceased by his daughter, Lee Ann Gucciardi.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline (Deshaies) Gucciardi of Salem, N.H.; sons, Anthony Gucciardi of Natick, Mass., and Stephen Gucciardi of Lake Worth, Fla.; daughter, Susan and her husband, Greg Pepper of Salem, N.H.; sisters, Diana Faggianno of Methuen, Mass., Lucy Licciardi of North Andover, Mass., and Frances Couto of Bedford, Mass.; grandsons, Jaspar and Grant Gucciardi; several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Rd, Windham, NH. A funeral Mass will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church, Salem, N.H. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
