George's Story

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - George Roosevelt Buzzell, Jr., age 88, of San Francisco, Calif., died peacefully at his home on January 12, 2018.
Born in Merrimac, on June 9, 1929, he was the son of the late George R. Buzzell, Sr. and the late Melissa Winifred (Condon) Buzzell and was a graduate of Merrimac High school.
After graduating from high school, he proudly served with the United States Navy from September 15, 1947, until honorable discharge on August 24, 1951.
He was a tool and dye maker most of his life, working for the Schlage Lock Company.
His greatest enjoyment was traveling, and he was always ready for new adventures in new places. He especially enjoyed his trips back home to visit his family.
He is survived by his five nephews,Terry Walker of WA, Gerald E. Buzzell Jr. of Merrimac; Michael J. Buzzell of Haverhill, Daniel G. Buzzell of Merrimac and Kenneth W. Buzzell of Merrimac; and a niece, Marie E. Buzzell of Merrimac; his sister-in-law of Merrimac, Judith Buzzell, his longtime friend, Andy Chow of San Francisco, CA, along with many extended family members. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald E. Buzzell, Sr. and a sister, Winifred (Buzzell) Walker.
A private graveside service will be held at Locust Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac.
