George F.'s Story
George F. Schruender, 85, of Rialto, Calif., passed away September 17, 2017, at Providence Waterman Convalescent Hospital in San Bernandino, Calif.
George was the son of the late Bernard F. and Gladys E.(Wefers) Schruender of Methuen, Mass. He was married for 53 years to the late Helen T. (Menihane) Schruender. He leaves his two sons, Daniel B. and Kenneth W., both of Rialto, Calif.; brothers, Bernard J. of Wachapreague, Va., David L. of Salem, N.H.; sisters, Frances E. Lyons of Hampton Beach, N.H., and Suzanne E. Lehman of Holyoke, Mass.; and sister-in-law, Sheila (Doyle) Schruender of Methuen, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews. He was previously deceased by his brother, Henry P. Schruender.
Born and educated in Methuen, George was a graduate of Edward F. Searles High School and Merrimack College. He served honorably in the US Army. He moved to California in 1969 and worked for many years at the California Institute of Technology of Pasadena and retired from Loude Engineering of Ontario, Calif.
His passion for New England sports followed him to California where he never missed a Patriots, Red Sox or Celtics game. He also enjoyed the casinos and spending time with his family.
George was buried with his wife in the Our Lady Queen of Peace cemetery in Colton, Calif. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the charity of your choice.
