George (Howdy)'s Story
George (Howdy) Smart, Sr., 68, of Lawrence, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 19, 2017. George was born in Lawrence to George M. Smart and Mary (McCarthy) Smart. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joyce (Carney) Smart; son, George Jr. of Methuen; daughter, Patricia (Patty) Smart of Lawrence; and sister, Lynda Buchikos of North Carolina. George also leaves behind his only grandson, Code Paul Smart. Code Paul had a best buddy in his Grampy!
He was predeceased by his parents and favorite Auntie Peggy.
George retired from Agfa (compugraphic) Co. He loved a good card game, laughs with his long-time friends, and trips to Saratoga Race Track, N.Y.
Mr. Smart was a great husband, father, and best Grampy. He will be missed by all. Let the stories begin! Peace out and Rock on, Old Man. Joyce and Family -- "Til we meet again."
Family and friends are welcome to join George’s family on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA. There will be a celebration of George’s life following the wake at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
