Gerald W.'s Story
SALEM, NH- Gerald W. Collins, 83, a longtime resident of Salem, NH, passed away on Saturday, December 30th in Las Vegas.
Jerry was born and educated in Lawrence, and graduated from Lawrence High School. He was the son of the late Jane (Riley) and John Collins.
Jerry served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired from Nynex, formerly New England Telephone where he worked as a foreman. He was an active member of Mary Queen of Peace Church and he volunteered for the Greater Salem Caregivers. Gerry was an avid reader and he enjoyed going out to eat.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Bryce Collins and wife, Khristine of Manchester, N.H., Mark Collins and wife Rena of Maple Grove, Minn. and Beth Mikesell and husband, Shawn of Las Vegas; his sister, Patricia Turner of No. Andover, MA; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne "Nancy" Collins, his son, John Collins and his brothers, Bryce and Jack Collins.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 200 Lawrence Rd., Salem, NH. Burial will be at a later date in Pine Grove Cemetery.
