Gilbert "Gil"'s Story
METHUEN - Gilbert 'Gil' DeBurro, 81, of Methuen, formerly of Salem, N.H., passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, with his family by his side. A native of Lawrence, he was born September 18, 1936, to the late Angelo and Emma (Epica) DeBurro.
Gil proudly served his country as part of the United States Army from 1960 to 1966. A graduate of Fazio School of Cosmetology, he had been a hair stylist for more than 50 years, owning and operating his own shop, Coiffure Designs by DeBurro, where he enjoyed supporting others to feel and look their best.
A doting grandfather, Gil's joy were his four granddaughters. He loved gardening and was well known for his fresh baked banana bread, which he would give out generously. Gil was a man of deep faith, gave freely of his time and touched many with his kindness, often giving Holy Spirit medals to those navigating life's challenges. He also had an artistic side that can be seen today in many places -- from the three cut glass windows that adorn St. Mary and Joseph Parish, formerly Mary Queen of Peace Church in Salem, N.H., to the numerous photo albums he made for friends and family, documenting the many milestones of their lives.
Gil's legacy will live on through his family and is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Catherine 'Kay' (Catalano) DeBurro; his children, Robert and wife, Veronica of Atlanta and Miami Beach, Cathy of Methuen, and Michael and his wife, Amanda of Somerville; his grandchildren, Arianne, Alia, Sienna, and Violette. He was also the brother of Adeline Pappalardo of Lawrence, Dorothy DeBurro of Methuen, and the late Rodosildo 'Roddy', Agatina 'Aggie' DePetrillo, Joseph, Nicholas, and Richard. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and god-children.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, February 8, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen.
