Janice (O’Keefe) Conrad, a longtime resident of Saugus who had recently moved to Haverhill, passed away at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Janice was born in Boston in 1946, and was raised in Medford, graduating from Medford High School with the class of 1964. In July of 1967, she married her sweetheart, Garry F. Conrad, and the two settled down in Saugus together to raise their family. Over the last 20 years, Janice and Garry enjoyed wintering in Ft. Myers, Fla. They shared 50 years of marriage together.
Janice had worked as a paralegal, but returned to school and graduated from North Shore Community College in 1990 with her legal secretary degree. She worked for firms in Boston, including Pasternak, Blankstein and Lund, and Lane, Altman and Owens, until 2011 when she retired. She was the past president of the PTA of the Roby School in Saugus, and was the fundraising chair of the Saugus Youth Soccer Association in the early 1980s. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her dog, Benny.
She is survived by her husband, Garry F. Conrad; her children, Eric D. Conrad and girlfriend, Kellie Hickey of Haverhill, Jannise N. Seery and husband, Michael of Maryland; and her grandchildren, Emeline and Michael. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Janice is preceded in death by her son, Garry J. Conrad; her brothers, Donald and David O’Keefe; as well has her mother, Dorothy (Donoho) O’Keefe – Mercurio.
Funeral services will be held at the Weir-MacCuish Golden Rule Funeral Home, 144 Salem St., Malden on Friday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m., with interment to follow in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 10, from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider making donations in Janice’s memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
