GEORGETOWN - Jean Christina (Fleming) Lanigan, age 87, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, after a short illness. She was born on April 17, 1930. She was the daughter to the late Patrick E. Fleming and Julia V. (Moynihan) Fleming. Jean grew up in Charlestown, MA and attended St. Francis de Sales School. She graduated from Salem State Teachers' College and received a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Boston State College. She taught for many years at the Williams Elementary School in Chelsea, and was named Teacher of the Year in 1955-56. She lived in Stoneham, and then in Georgetown, for 49 years, where she was a homemaker and CCD teacher for St. Mary's Parish. She enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren. She also worked in the office at Chesterton Co. in Groveland, and as a pharmacy technician at CVS in Rowley. Jean was predeceased by her siblings: Edward Fleming, Mary Maher, Lois Sutherlin, Geraldine Finn, Henrietta Jurczak, Thomas Fleming, and Joseph Fleming. She was also predeceased by her husband, Richard J. Lanigan. She leaves her beloved children, Julie (Lanigan) Nally of Georgetown, Patricia (Lanigan) Papaefthemiou and husband, Bill of Groveland, and Richard T. Lanigan and wife, Tina of Bradford. She also leaves her very cherished grandchildren: Evan and Brian Papaefthemiou, Sean Lanigan, and Colin Nally. In addition, she leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews. At the request of the family, funeral services will be held privately at the Conte-Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant St., Georgetown.
