Jeremiah's Story

NORTH ANDOVER- Jeremiah (Jerry) F. Morris, 68, longtime resident of North Andover, and more recently of Falmouth, Mass., passed away on January 17, 2018.
Jerry was born in Lawrence, on August 5, 1949 to Andrew and Agnes (Minihan) Morris, deceased. Jerry leaves behind family, his best friend Neil Hermann, and special friend, Elaine Ivester.
Jerry graduated from St. John's Prep in 1967. He continued his education at Yale University graduating in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and in 1975 he graduated with a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. He subsequently achieved admittance to practice law before all Massachusetts courts.
Jerry was employed by several Insurance Companies as a trial attorney as well as holding positions of Managing Attorney with Hanover Insurance Company and General Counsel with Sentry Insurance Company.
Jerry loved playing baseball from an early age. He became a very good pitcher in the North Andover leagues, St. John's Prep, and Yale University and in 2003; he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame at St. John's Prep. He was a formidable force on the mound. He continued to show his pitching prowess at Yale and received an invitation from the Minnesota Twins Organization to show his stuff. Unfortunately, Jerry's pitching career ended at Yale with a shoulder injury.
He loved all sorts of activities including golf, hiking, camping, racquetball, skiing and participating in triathlons. He also dabbled a bit with drawing. Jerry loved running the Falmouth Road Race and did so for many years. He was an avid reader; he would read everything. One summer, while enjoying the sun at Old Silver Beach, he was relaxing with a page turner, The History of Russia. Jerry would typically have more than one book in progress at a time. He was a very good candlepin bowler and played with the Big Boys of Haverhill back in the day.
Although Jerry was a highly professional and accomplished trial attorney, he always saw himself as a small town country boy. He didn't look for accolades and when they were directed at him that's when he would say it ... Awe, I'm just a small town country boy... and that is Jerry being Jerry.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
