John C.'s Story

John C. Gaumont, 89, of Hudson, N.H., passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2017. He was the husband of the late Theresa (Demers) Gaumont, and the son of the late Eugene and Eugenia (Gaudreau) Gaumont.
John was born and raised in Lawrence, Mass. and was also known as Bob to his family and friends. John served in the U.S. Army, graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, and worked at Raytheon Company for several years. John established, owned, and operated the Gaumont Construction Company and designed custom homes in Salem, N.H. He lived most of his life in Salem, N.H. until 1989 when he moved to Gilford, N.H. making this his permanent residence. In 2012, he moved to Hudson, N.H. to spend the remainder of his years closer to family.
Through his life, John enjoyed the outdoors, especially the mountains. John also enjoyed his vacation homes on Squam Lake and Lake Winnipesauke. Gatherings at those lake houses will be fondly remembered by family. John retired early, alpine skiing, waterskiing, and biking well into his 80s.
John is survived by his daughter, Donna Yuszkus and husband Kenneth of Windham, N.H.; daughter, Catherine Kozack and husband, John of Spring, Texas; son, John Jr. Gaumont and wife, Teresa of Raleigh, N.C.; and daughter, Caroline Baglio of Hudson, N.H.; grandchildren, Kerri Raso and husband, Stephen of Wilmington, Mass., Kristi Dacey and husband, David of Windham, N.H., Christopher Bourbeau of Tilton, N.H., Alicia Bourbeau of Houston, Texas, Anthony Baglio and wife, Rebeckah of Christenburg, Va., and Breanna Baglio-Silvonic of Hudson, N.H. John is also survived by two siblings, Jeanne Bienvenue and Samuel Gaumont; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Matthews in Windham, N.H, on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. As per John’s wishes, there will not be a wake. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the form of Masses in memory of John C. Gaumont.
