LAWRENCE, MA - John F. "Jackie" Lamond, age 88, of Lawrence, Mass., passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 22, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Jackie worked at Bolta Tire & Rubber of Lawrence for over 25 years, and retired with K.J. Quinn. Jackie was a devout Catholic, altar server, and a longtime parishioner of St. Patrick's Parish of Lawrence.
Jackie is survived by his wife M. Claire (McGravey) Lamond with whom he shared 66 years of marriage; two daughters, Marie A. (Lamond) Levesque, and her husband D.G. Levesque, and Joanne Lamond. He has three wonderful grandchildren, Michelle (Levesque) Lucena and her husband Pedro, Stacie Levesque and her boyfriend Andy Burgos, and Andrew Levesque. Jackie was known as Papa to wonderful great-grandson, Jackson Burgos, and he was predeceased by his seven-month-old great-grandson, Grayson Burgos, who became an angel in heaven on September 16, 2017. He was predeceased by his parents Matthias A. and Margaret T. (Higgins) Lamond, brother Thomas Lamond, and sister Marie Lamond. Jackie is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Jackie was an avid football and baseball fan. His father Mattie played semi-pro baseball as a catcher. Jackie loved watching the evening "Lawrence Welk" shows with his beloved wife and soulmate Claire. He was a big fan of the sitcom shows of his era.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Jackie's life by gathering for his calling hours on Monday, February 26, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 118 S. Broadway, S. Lawrence. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in North Andover.
