Plaistow, NH - John H. Seluta died on June 9, 2019, at 79 years of age. He was born in Somerville MA on October 18, 1939, the son of Francis and Inez (Crocker) Seluta. He had resided in Plaistow, NH since 1977. On October 19, 1968, John married Patricia Boone Nichols of Lowell, MA. They were married 25 years until her death in 1993. At the age of 72, John married Susan Wheeler, formerly of Dedham, Amesbury, and Merrimac MA.

John was a graduate of Lynn Vocational Technical Institute in 1959, and Southern New Hampshire University in l979. John enjoyed a successful career as an HVAC Mechanical Engineer, retiring in 2001 after 27 years of employment at MIT's Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington MA. For 3 years of his time with MIT/LL, he worked and lived with his family in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, in the position of Physical Plant Manager.

John proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 6 years during the Vietnam War era. Two years of active service included doing tour in European and Caribbean countries. John was a member of the American Legion Post 34, in Plaistow NH. He also enjoyed his time as a Justice of the Peace and Notary Public for the state of NH from 1997-2017.

John had many interests in his life and was energized by people, especially his children and grandchildren. He spent time restoring antique furniture, gardening, Bible studies, memorizing poetry, giving speeches at Toastmasters International, tennis, golf, cross-country skiing, skydiving, piano, and singing. He was a longtime member of Audubon New Hampshire. Everyone enjoyed his stories about growing up near Boston, his Naval travels, and living an adventure in the South Pacific.

John taught Sunday School classes and sang with the Calvary Bible Church choir in Derry, NH. Recently, he worshiped at First Congregational Church in Kingston NH, the morning Men's Bible Study at West Church in Haverhill MA, and the Veterans Life Group at The Rock Church in Plaistow NH. John gratefully expressed his awe of God's mercy and protection to him throughout life experiences. The Lord Jesus Christ was and is his Savior and Lord, the reason for John's enjoyment of eternal life.

The family of John Seluta will miss his presence, love, subtle humor and silly practical jokes. He leaves his wife Susan Wheeler of Plaistow NH; daughter Laura Lord and husband Tim of Manchester, NH; son Joshua Seluta and wife Brenda of GA; and daughter Emily Seluta of Portland, ME. His son, Andrew Burgess Seluta predeceased him in 2009. John's family also includes 3 sisters: Barbara Leone and husband Anthony of Granbury, TX; Carol Leone and husband Robert of Tewksbury MA; Noreen Arakelian and Richard of Billerica, MA; and grandchildren: Juliet Lord, John Lord, Emerson Seluta, Tillman Seluta, Helen Seluta, and Sarah Seluta.

Services will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 15th at Calvary Bible Church 145 Hampstead Rd Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, please donate to John was a veteran and enjoyed the company of his dog, Pepper and all his "granddogs".

Although we only met a handful of times, his kindness left an impression on me. He was so very friendly and spoke so highly of his kids and grandkids. I could tell he loved you all so very much!
