Joseph (Joe)'s Story
Joseph (Joe) G. Medolo, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at his home in North Andover, Mass. He was born on February 24, 1932, in North Andover, Mass., to Joseph and Frances (Musemeci). Joe was preceded in death by parents and his brothers, Paul V., Salvatore F., and Gaitano (Tony).
Joe graduated from American International College with a degree in Biology. After serving in the US Army, he began his 36-year long career with Raytheon. Joe loved his time up on Lake Winnipesaukee and on the beach in Aruba.
Joe married Irene (Piper) in May 1953 in North Andover, Mass. They were happily married for 64-and-a-half years.
Joe is survived by his wife, Irene; his children, Joseph and his wife, Carol Medolo of Portsmouth, N.H., Marie Bagwill and her husband, Gary of Madison, Ala., Linda Johnson and her fiancé, Anthony Lalli of North Andover, Michael and his wife, Pamela Medolo of Anchorage, Alaska, Donna Backman and her husband, Carl of North Andover, Laurence Medolo and his partner, Brenda of North Andover, Andrew and his wife, Wendy Medolo of East Hampstead, N.H. Joe is also survived by his grandchildren, Kristie Medolo, Joseph E. and his wife, Amy Medolo, of Boston, Mass., Nina and Megan Bagwill of Madison, Ala., Laurie and her husband, John Hashem of Methuen, Mass., Caralyn Backman of Wells, Maine, Elyse Backman of Orlando, Fla., Philip and Gianna Medolo of Middleton, Mass.; and great-grandchildren, Daniel Medolo and Marina Hashem. Joe is also survived by sisters-in-law, Laura Medolo and Charlene Vaillancourt.
Joe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed. We already miss him playing his guitar and singing edelweiss.
Graveside service will be held at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover, on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 11 a.m.
