Joseph M. Quilty "Pa" Sr. of Reading passed away November 9, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Mari) and loving father of Theresa Mello and her husband, Stephen of Wilmington, Joseph Jr., and his wife, Jodi of Tewksbury, and Matt Quilty and his wife, Theresa of Wilmington. He was the son of the late Martin and Jenny Quilty and son-in-law of the late Florence Mazzola. He was the beloved son-in-law of the late Arthur Mari and his wife, Aurora of West Dennis and step-son of the late Walter E. Jones. He was the adoring grandfather of Jacqueline, Ernest, Renee and David Mello, Joseph III, Jeffrey, James, Thomas, and Maria Quilty. Joe is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.
Joe was an Iron Worker since 1956 and a Little League, Pop Warner, and Senior League coach. He was an ex-business agent of Iron Workers Local 7 and former president of the Boston Building Trades. He was a retired general vice president of the Iron Workers International and President Emeritus of the Iron Workers District Council of New England.
Joseph put familly above everything else and did everything in his power to please everyone. All that knew and love Joe will miss him dearly.
Relatives and friends are most respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Theresa's Church, 63 Winter St. (Route 62), North Reading, on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours at the Cota Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park Street and Route 28), North Reading, on Monday, 3 to 7 p.m. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ST. Jude Hospital for Children, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
