Judith (Stone)'s Story

Judith (Stone) Galluzzo, 80, of Salem, N.H., died Nov. 23 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Brighton, Mass. Judy was born in Lynn, Mass., on Sept. 5, 1937, to James C. and Hilda (Cail) Stone. She grew up and was educated in Reading, Mass., where she graduated from Reading Memorial High School in 1955 and Mary Brooks Jr. College in 1957. Judy worked as legal secretary for several Salem law firms and in 1982 she was appointed as Office Manager for Gov. John H. Sununu. She was also a long-time political advisor.
Judy was a resident of Salem, N.H., for over 50 years, where she was very active locally as past president of the Barron School PTA, former head of Girl Scouts in Salem, past president of the Lady Lions and Lioness Club, and served as a volunteer at the Salem Boys & Girls Club. She was founder and director of Stonehill Kindergarten at the former Tenney Church in Salem. Judy was a Republican activist and served 10 years as chairman of the Salem, NH GOP. Judy ran many republican campaigns including Executive Counselor Ruth Griffin, Rockingham County Register of Deeds Cathy Stacey, Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams and Pat Conway, Sherriff Dan Linehan, just to name a few. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, and she could always find a bargain going to yard sales.
Besides her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband, James J. Galluzzo Jr.; brother, Jeffrey Stone; sister, Jane Hayden; and stepson, David Galluzzo.
Judy is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Kimberly and her husband, Kevin Hollins of Salem, N.H.; son, Lt. Col Ret. James J. III and his wife, Melissa Galluzzo of South Carolina; the loved and pride of Judy’s life, her granddaughter, Catharine Anne Galluzzo; brothers, James C. Stone Jr. and his wife, Veronica of San Antonio, Texas, and Jay C. Stone and his wife, Karen of Salem, N.H.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and relative are invited to calling hours on Friday, Dec. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
