Leo H.'s Story
Leo H. Storey, 96, of Holiday, Fla., passed away peacefully at Jennifer Gardens of Bayonet Point, Fla., on Oct. 4, 2017. He was formerly of Newton Junction and Atkinson, N.H.
He was born in Stoneham, Mass., on July 6, 1921, and grew up in Malden, Mass., graduating from Malden High in 1938.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Gladys Storey; wife, Dorothy (Davis) Storey (1985); and wife, Mary Jo (Stratton) Storey (2008). He is survived by three children and their spouses, Linda (Kenneth) Erb of Bayonet Point, Fla., Kathleen (Gerald) Weisberg of The Villages, Fla., David (Lynn) Storey of East Kingston, N.H.; and a stepdaughter, Caryn (Kyle) Vedane of Greenville, S.C. He leaves seven grandchildren, Victoria (William) Higgins, Wendra (Christopher) Uher, Stephen (Kim Patterson) Erb, Stephanie Storey, Haley Storey, Caroline Vedane and Anna Vedane. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Storey worked for General Electric in Lynn, Mass., retiring after 20 years. He then worked as an insurance agent for many years. Leo also served in WWII as a Corporal in Military Specialties in the U.S. Marines from 1944 to 1946. He also served as a member of the Newton, N.H., Fire Department.
Leo was a long time member of the Masons, Eastern Star, Knights Templar, Granite State Grange, and Bektash Shriners International. He was a member of the Newton Junction Baptist Church for 80 years.
His hobbies included model trains, woodworking, fishing, crossword puzzles, reading and spending time in Miscou Island in New Brunswick, Canada.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 26, at 10 a.m. at Newton Junction Baptist Church, followed by interment in Willow Grove Cemetery, Newton.
