Lloyd J. Wajda

Lloyd J. Wajda Methuen - Lloyd J. Wajda, 78, of Methuen, formerly of New Bedford, Mass., passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018, at Lawrence General Hospital. Born in New Bedford, Mass., he was the son of the late Joseph and Nora (Wienzek) Wajda.

Lloyd was a graduate of New Bedford High School, U-Mass Dartmouth, and Iona College in N.Y., where he earned his master’s degree in Chemistry. He was Production Manager for the Gillette Company in Andover and Boston until his retirement in 2000.

Lloyd was the president of the St. Monica Chapter and past Lawrence District president of the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Lloyd was a recipient of the Cheverus Award. He was an avid Boston sports fan and was a frequent spectator at his grandchildren’s various games. He was also the assistant coach for the St. Mary’s High School basketball team. With his wife by his side, he traveled Europe and the United States.

Lloyd was predeceased by his son, John A. Wajda.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Bergeron) Wajda; daughters, Mary Towler and her husband Daniel of Salem, N.H., and Anne Bachta and her companion Jim McNulty of Methuen; grandchildren, Allyson, Emma, Sean, Rachel, Sarah, Zachary, Kaitlyn, Benjamin, Izzy, and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Thea.

The family would like to thank the staff at LGH for their caring and support, especially Alex, who was a bright light in his day and made him smile.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 6, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m., on Friday, December 7, 2018, at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. LLYOD & I met many times on yearly religious retreats. We used to kidingly push each other’s buttons to get a reaction . We loved each other very much & would have done anything for each other. He will leave a hole in my heart. I will miss his opening line (NOT YOU AGAIN!). RPI my dear friend. I praise & thank the LITTLE BABY JESUS for having had you in my life.BOB

Sue, Mary, Anne, Dan. Please accept our deepest sympathy on your loss of your dear husband, father and father in law, Lloyd. Lloyd was a true saint who devoted a lot of his time to serve other people's needs in their time of sickness, he was a real friend and a most genuine person. I was proud to be a friend of his. He will be missed.
