Louis J.'s Story
Louis J. Kmiec, Jr., 78, a lifelong resident of North Andover, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017, at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Mr. Kmiec was born at the family homestead in North Andover to the late Louis J., Sr. and Agnes (Perog) Kmiec. He was always proud to say that he attended and graduated from the Kittredge Grade School in North Andover.
With a strong work ethic that would be a trademark of his throughout his life, Mr. Kmiec earned his own high school tuition money by working on the well-known family farm. He then graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1957. In 1964, he established a brokerage called Countryside Real Estate and would testify in court since 1977 as an expert real estate appraiser under Countryside Appraisers, Countryside Offices, 707 Turnpike St., Rte. 114, North Andover.
He was active in giving of himself to the Town of North Andover. In 1967, he was the founding treasurer of the North Andover Jaycees, and in 1970 he served as president. He was a longtime member of the North Andover Board of Trade and his brokerage company entered 25 completely covered parade floats with each having an element of surprise come Christmas and 4th of July.
Mr. Kmiec is survived by his sisters, Sr. Joanne Kmiec, a Sister of Charity-Halifax of Wellesley, Roberta Zilinsky of Methuen and Linda Leo of North Andover. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Michael’s Church, 196 Main St., North Andover. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, North Andover.
