Louise's Story

HAVERHILL- Louise M. (Christopher) Klodenski, 99, of Groveland, passed away peacefully Monday, December 11, 2017 at Wingate at Haverhill. She was the beloved wife of the late Stanley J. Klodenski. Louise was born December 3, 1918 in Haverhill, the daughter of the late Charles and Gilda (Minalio) Christopher.
She attended Haverhill schools and graduated from Haverhill High School, Class of 1936. Louise was employed with Haverhill Shoe Novelty and Western Electric Company early in her career. She opened a women's clothing store, Louise Madeline's Specialty Shop, on Washington Street in Haverhill, in 1950. In 1953, she moved her business to Monument Square and operated it there for more than 35 years before retiring in 1987.
Louise had lived in Haverhill her entire life before moving to Nichols Village in Groveland in 2011. For more than 60 years she spent summers at her family cottage at Lake Attitash in Merrimac where she made many lifelong friends. Louise also enjoyed traveling, golfing, skiing, reading, music, and entertaining family and friends. She was a member and past officer of The Women's City Club in Haverhill.
Louise is survived by her son, Ronald Klodenski and his wife, Nancy of Newburyport; grandson, Thomas of Newburyport; sister Mary Wyka of Groveland; and sister-in-law, Jane Christopher of Atkinson, N.H. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Joseph DeCristofaro, Jean Blackadar, Walter Kosciewicz, Mildred Wilkins, Stanley Mercier and Richard Mercier. She will be remembered by all her family and dear friends including the many lives she touched at her home at Nichols Village.
ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours will be held Monday, December 18, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Grondin-Carnevale Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave. Haverhill, MA, 01830. A service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Saint Patrick Cemetery, East Broadway, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Louise's memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 6 Cottage Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
