Madeline K. (Kanavos) Anton, 91, of North Andover and member of the well-known Greater Lowell family, died Saturday morning at The Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the loving wife of Arthur C. Anton, former President of Anton's Cleaners, for over 66 years, who survives her.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, August 1, 1926, the daughter of the late John and the late Diane (Panagetopoulos) Kanavos, she attended Boston Latin High School and was a graduate of Boston University, Class of 1948.
She was a longtime member of the Hellenic Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity and held membership in the Philoptochos Society.
Along with her husband Arthur, Madeline was active in the community with several philanthropic and charitable organizations and was a member of the Chelmsford Garden Club and the Whistler House Museum.
Beloved by many, Madeline was always a great hostess to countless friends and family. As her high school yearbook inscription so accurately captured "Loving, warm-hearted and kind, a truer friend you'll never find".
Besides her husband, she is survived by four children (Diane Wilmont and her husband Gunnar of Bronxville, NY, Susan Pasanen and her husband Wayne of North Andover, Charles Anton and his wife Tami of Lincoln and Arthur Anton, Jr. and his wife Nina of Carlisle), ten grandchildren (Gunnar Wilmont, Jr., Madeline Wilmont, Zachary Pasanen and his wife Alexandra, Christina Pasanen, Alexandra Pasanen, Austin Anton, Jacqueline Anton, Spencer Anton, Olivia Anton and Steven Anton), and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late George Kanavos.
