Marcel's Story

Marcel Desjardins, 80, of New Road, Canterbury, died July 8, 2017, at the Concord Hospital following a long illness.
He was born in Concord, the son of Eugene Desjardins, Sr. and Bertha (Audet) Desjardins. He graduated from St. Francis High School in Biddeford, Maine in 1956. He married his high school sweetheart, Edna (Pratt) in 1957, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
An Army veteran, Marcel served from 1956 to 1960. A business owner for many years at the Salem Laundry, he still enjoyed going to the office after his retirement. An avid golfer for many years, his recent health precluded him from this and his other hobbies of gardening and woodworking. He was a staunch and faithful participant of Christ the King Parish for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Desjardins of Canterbury; two sons, Kenneth Desjardins of Canterbury and Francis Desjardins and his wife, Kimberly of Northfield; two daughters, Suzan Lank and her husband, Clinton of Barnstead, and Michelle Desjardins of Manchester; eight grandchildren, Gabrielle Desjardins, Monique (Desjardins) Jennifer, Jacob Desjardins, John, Amie and Cody Lank, Rachael and Ross Lewis; six great grandchildren, Noah, Cole, Chase, Eva, Bradley, and Reagan; many nieces and nephews. A sister, Pauline of Wear, N.H. and a brother, Eugene Desjardins, Jr. of Fort Myers, Fla. and was predeceased by his twin brother, Gabriel Desjardins and his two sisters, Anita Parenteau and Lorraine Reed.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main St., Concord, NH. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 15 at 9 a.m. at Christ the King Parish/St. John’s, 72 South Main St., Concord, followed by an urn Burial with Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery, Concord, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry c/o Christ the King Church, Main Street, Concord, N.H.
