Marion (Cedergren)'s Story

METHUEN - Marion (Cedergren) Kerr passed away at High Point House in Haverhill on January 20, 2018 surrounded by her loving daughters after a short illness.
Born 1921 in Derry, N.H. she had six sisters. Marion was an industrious and accomplished student, skipping several grades in elementary school and graduating from Searles High School in 1937 at the age of 16 at the top of her class. She moved to New York City in 1942 where she began her career at Wright Aeronautical in the employment office. While there, she met Dottie Ferrari, a cousin to the handsome young soldier and World War II veteran James Kerr who became her husband in April 1947.
Marion was a working mother before it was fashionable and retired from her position in the DPW for the City of Methuen in May 2003. She remained active in retirement, spending time with family and traveling.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Kerr of Methuen, Merrilee Kerr Ford of Methuen, Elizabeth Kerr Guyott and her husband, Scott of Malden and her grandson Greg Guyott and great-granddaughter, Jaelynn Taylor Guyott of Bolton. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, James A. Kerr and her son-in-law, Gary Ford. She also leaves her sisters, Doris Testa and Beverly Dantos of Raymond, N.H. Her sisters Marjorie Bergeron, Shirley Martin, Louise Seaborne and Barbara Skinner predeceased her. A devoted and loving aunt, she enjoyed the company of her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the memorial fund of First Church, Congregational, 26 Pleasant St., Methuen, MA 01844 or the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at First Church Congregational, 26 Pleasant St., Methuen at 2 p.m. All are welcome to join in the celebration of Marion's life.
