LAWRENCE, MA - Martin L. Neistadt, 88, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, and the surrounding area, died Saturday, February 3, 2018, at the Mary Immaculate Restorative Center in Lawrence.
Marty was born April 8, 1929, in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Jacob and Etta (Fox) Neistadt, graduated from Lawrence High School, and attended Suffolk University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and worked in the carpet industry for 45 years before retiring. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and 63-year member of the Lawrence United Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma (Emmet) Neistadt; his daughter, Jill Roueche, and husband, Dana; a sister, Ruth Ferro, seven grandchildren; and his former wife, Sylvia C. Neistadt. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Neistadt, and a sister, Zelda Wittenberg.
Marty was a beloved father, who is fondly remembered as a genuinely selfless person who had a love for all of those he knew. He was an accomplished tennis player in the Lawrence area. Marty liked to tease and kid with people, and to sing his favorite songs. Marty loved to cook and share his creations with others. In addition to tennis, he loved to ski in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with his daughter, Jill.
By Marty's request, services and burial will be private, and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, MA.
