Mary A. (Cartier) Paradis Chadwick, age 92, longtime Groveland resident, passed quietly in her sleep early Friday morning, December 8, 2017, at Country Center in Newburyport where she was a resident for the past five years. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert G. Chadwick and the late Donald J. Paradis.
Born in Haverhill on September 4, 1925, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Sarah L. (Killilea) Cartier and was a graduate of St. James Catholic School in Haverhill, and then went on to graduate from Merrimack College in North Andover.
For many years she worked as an accountant at AT&T and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
As a woman of great faith, she was a dedicated communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Groveland as well as St. James Church in Haverhill. She committed her life to caring for others, be it her family, friends or members of her community. She was very charitable, always willing to help when help was needed.
She leaves behind her son, Donald J. "DJ" Paradis, Jr.; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter; sister, Joan and husband, Richard "Dick" Walsh, of Ocala, Fla.; her step-son, Bruce Chadwick; Karen (Savage) Christie of Groveland, (who was like a daughter to her and will love her always) and partner, David Hill; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Her generosity of spirit and her kind, gentle ways will always be remembered.
Visiting hours at the Monument Square Chapel of Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, will be Tuesday, December 12, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, 185 Winter Street, Haverhill, followed by burial in St. James Cemetery.
