Mary's Story

HAVERHILL, MA - Mary Veronica (Gavin) Drouin, 91, of Haverhill, passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick Drouin.
Mary was born in Lawrence on April 15, 1926, the daughter of Francis H. and Mary V. (McNulty) Gavin. She graduated from Lawrence High School and worked as a cable repairer for New England Telephone Company for 41 years until her retirement. Mary was a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians (LAOH). She loved spending time with her family. They were the most important thing in her life.
Mary will be deeply missed by her three children, Ellen Drouin McGuigan and her husband, David of West Newbury, MA, Maureen Drouin of Newburyport, MA, and Michael Drouin and his wife, Anne of Haverhill; three grandchildren, Sean McGuigan and his wife, Kimberly of Chelmsford, Katharine McGuigan Wood and her husband, Kyle of Merrimack, Mass., and Patrick Drouin of Haverhill; four great-grandchildren, Alec and Alyssa Wood and Lea and Ethan McGuigan; and her lifelong friends, Mary and Al David of Methuen. She was predeceased by her son, Mark Drouin. The family would like to thank the staff of The Pentucket Unit at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center for the excellent care and attention that was given to Mary during her seven year stay there.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Mary's life by gathering for her calling hours on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Her funeral service will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Mary/Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
