CHESTER, NH - Maryan (Pike Titone) Sullivan, of Chester, N.H., formerly of Salisbury and Lawrence, died peacefully Monday morning, December 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.
Maryan was born in Newburyport on December 20, 1944, and attended Salisbury and Newburyport schools. She worked for many years as a hair stylist and later for the United States Postal Service. Maryan was an avid reader and in her retirement enjoyed working at the Plaistow Public Library so she could surround herself with books. She counted her colleagues and the library patrons amongst her many friends.
The Christmas season was Maryan's favorite time of year. Her house would be decorated from top to bottom and her tree would be adorned with her many ornaments collected or handmade through the years. Her children and grandchildren will cherish the memories of waiting together for Santa to make his appearance on Christmas Eve in Chester and then enjoying the special night with Maryan and Edd. The Sullivan family will miss sharing with Maryan and Edd the annual tradition of hanging the Christmas mural of Santa and Rudolph, painted by Edd, at the Sullivan family home in Tewksbury.
Maryan loved to travel to Maine in the summer and especially enjoyed staying with Edd and his family at their uncle's home on the lake in Camden, and then later camping at various sites around Maine.
Maryan was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward (Edd) Sullivan who died on May 14, 2017. She will be greatly missed by her dedicated children, Tammy Foster and her husband, Robert of Amesbury, Jo-Ann Bellavance of Hampton, Joseph Titone and Michael Titone of Seabrook, N.H. She also leaves five grandchildren who loved her dearly, Meghan Foster, Robert Foster, Brian Foster, Ashley Titone and Kelsey Bellavance. Maryan also leaves behind special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, including Carole and Rich Sullivan, Paul Sullivan, David and Colleen Sullivan, Robert and Pam Sullivan, Marie Titone, James Titone and Frances Titone, and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her beloved father, Erwin Pike of Salisbury.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Elliott Hospital, Merrimack Valley Hospice and High Pointe House for their caring and compassion. Their loving and kind attention helped Maryan and her family through this difficult time.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service and celebration of Maryan's life will be held at the Sea Glass Restaurant in Salisbury on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Lawrence, MA 01843, http://www.homehealthfoundation.org/about-mvh/ or to the New Hampshire SPCA http://nhspca.org/.
