Nicholas J. DiMaio

August 17, 1957 - October 30, 2018

Ipswich - Nicholas J. DiMaio, age 61, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, with his wife and family by his side. Nick was born in Winthrop, Mass., on August 17, 1957. He attended Georgetown High School and graduated in the spring of 1975. He married Leanne on April 29, 2000, and spent many happy years living in Maine before returning home to Massachusetts. Nick was passionate about restoring antique automobiles and devoted his entire career to the craft he loved so much. Nick achieved an industry-wide reputation of being a true artist and leaves behind a legacy of excellence.
Nick enjoyed the simple things in life: vacationing in Moosehead Lake, playing golf, attending Broadway musicals, Sunday drives, and spending time with his family. He also cherished the time he spent with his many friends. Nick had the unique ability to build meaningful relationships with everyone that he met. Nick will always be remembered for his caring and generous heart, his integrity, his thoughtfulness and his unconditional love for helping others.

Family and friends whose lives were touched by Nick are invited to the Peirce Farm at Witch Hill, 116 Boston St., Topsfield, MA, from 1 to 5 p.m., on Sunday, November 18, 2018, to celebrate the wonderful person that Nick was.
In memory of Nick, Leanne is asking that donations be made to the New England Donor Services. Donations can be made online at or by mailing a check to New England Donor Services, 60 First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
Nick was an organ donor, and because of his generosity, many lives will be positively impacted by his final gift.

I have known Nick for well over 30 years. I was always in awe of his ability to create art from sheet metal. When ever I would stop by Nick's shop he would stop and sit with me and just plain reminisce about life. I will miss the visits and the conversation. Rest in Peace my friend.
