IPSWICH- Paul E. Sanborn Jr., 78, of Mile Lane, 28-year companion of Marcia Potter, passed away Wednesday February 14, 2018 in Beverly after his long illness.
Paul attended Haverhill public schools, a 1957 graduate of Haverhill Trade School.
He went on to serve six years in the U.S. Army, later serving in the Army National Guard. Paul was active in the Haverhill Lions Club and veterans organizations. He had served as a National Chaplain of the Amvets, Chaplain of the Dept. of MA Amvets, National Chaplain of the Yankee Division Veteran's Assoc. 26th U.S. Infantry Division and Chaplain of the North Shore Chapter. He also was a member of the Haverhill American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and Korean War Veterans; member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Merrimac Lodge, Valley of Lowell, Aleppo Shriners, Valley of Boston, Merrimac Lodge and an affiliate with the John T. Heard Lodge in Ipswich.
In addition to Marcia he is survived by his two sons, Paul Sanborn and wife Erin of Plaistow, N.H., David Sanborn of Haverhill; two daughters, Kelly Sanborn of Haverhill, Karen Goudreault of MS; six grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Sanborn and wife, Barbara of Amesbury, Lloyd Sanborn and wife, Diana of Haverhill; a sister Carole Weed and husband, Paul of Rowley; several nieces; nephews and Marcia's daughters, Kerri Larochelle and husband, Ricci of Ipswich, Nicole Orfanos and husband, Michael of Rowley and the love of his life, grandson, Mikey Orfanos.
His funeral service with Military Honors will be held 11 am Saturday, February 24 in Locust Grove Cemetery, Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Family and friends are respectfully welcomed.
