Pauline's Story

Pauline E. (Marchand) Buckley, 88, of Methuen died at home surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 17, 2017.

Born to the late George (Jim) and Annette (St. Laurent) Marchand, she lived in Methuen for most of her life and graduated from Searles High School in Methuen in 1947.

Pauline worked for the Arlington Trust Company and Shawmut Banks for 31 years and retired as an assistant vice president, managing the data processing center in Methuen. She was an active member of the Greater Lawrence ARC, member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish and ran The Rainbow Club at St. Theresa Church in Methuen, which offered weekly line dancing, card playing, and trips to senior citizens for 23 years.

Pauline lived for her family and along with her husband, John, loved to host family gatherings, especially summer pool parties. She welcomed all of her friends' and neighbors' children as if they were her own. She loved the beach and rented cottages for many years. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriot's fan. She especially loved all of her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She kept close to all of her nieces, nephews, friends and their families through Facebook. She also always made sure she had plenty of dog treats so she could spoil all of her grand-dogs when they visited and loved to feed and watch the birds outside her window.

Pauline was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John G Buckley, her daughter, Susan, and her sisters Doris Hall of Hill, NH and Lorraine Kidder of Palm Beach, Florida. She is survived by her daughter Karen Rutherford and her husband Donald of Lawrence, son Brian and his wife Lisa (Labbe) of Chester, NH; grandchildren - Brian Buckley Jr. and his wife Andrea (Perez) of Chester, NH, Stacy Rutherford of Lawrence, Katie (Buckley) Boles and her husband Matt of Manchester, NH, Gregory Rutherford of Lawrence, Ian Buckley of Methuen, Ryan Buckley of Chester, NH; great grandchildren - Imogene Boles and Cillian Buckley; daughter in law, Lee (Greenwood) Buckley of Methuen and lifelong friend Anthony DeFusco of Methuen. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel-St. Theresa Parish, 22 Plymouth Street, Methuen, MA. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Community Cancer Center at Holy Family Hospital, 70 East St. Methuen, MA 01844 or to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St. Lawrence, MA 01843.
