SCHUMANN, Pauline M. (Blouin) of North Andover died surrounded by her family on February 3 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with leukemia. A native of Bristol, CT, Pauline (Paula) was a graduate of Eastern High School. Following graduation Paula enlisted in the U.S. Navy where her work ethic and positive attitude earned her multiple awards. While serving in the Navy, she met her husband, Walter.

Beloved wife of Walter Schumann for 55 wonderful years. Deeply devoted mother of Deborah McGonigle and her husband Michael McGonigle of Winchester, MA, and Michael Schumann and his wife Sara of Somerville, MA. Adoring and loving “Meme” to three granddaughters Kelly and Kaitlyn McGonigle, and Annika Schumann.

Always ready for a new adventure or a new project, she was well known for excelling at whatever she undertook. Paula loved golfing and socializing with her dear friends at Andover Country Club. Also, an avid skier, she enjoyed years of memorable ski vacations with her family and became a Certified Ski Instructor in her 60s. She enjoyed nothing more than being with friends and family at their ski house at Loon Mountain.

Paula was a bright light of positivity and treated everyone with love and respect. She shared her example of strength, resilience, love and kindness with everyone she knew. Paula will be profoundly missed.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8 at the Conte Funeral Home at 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, February 9 at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.

Paula’s family would like to express their gratitude to the physicians and nurses of Dana- Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
