Peter S.'s Story
Peter S. Ambrosio, 88, of Londonderry, N.H., passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017, surrounded by his loving family in the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, N.H. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 24, 1929, a son of the late Vincenzo and Fortuna (DeVivo) Ambrosio. Raised in Ozone Park, N.Y., Mr. Ambrosio moved to Salem, N.H., in 1972 and spent the last 20 years in Londonderry. He proudly served his country with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked for 48 years at AT&T, formerly Western Electric, as a transportation supervisor. Mr. Ambrosio was a communicant of St. Jude Parish in Londonderry, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Ambrosio was a founding member of the Salem, NH Little League and as a Coach was instrumental in its expansion. He loved to go to casinos and play the slots, his friends all called him "Lucky Pete." He also enjoyed bingo, travel, dancing and vacationing with his family. He will be remembered as a supportive, funny, generous, devoted family man who lived for his family and friends. He is survived by his four children, Lisa Ambrosio of Amherst, N.H., Lori Conte and husband, William of East Hampstead, N.H., Glenn Ambrosio and wife, Sarah of Tewksbury, Mass., and Chris Ambrosio of New York, N.Y.; his four grandchildren, Alyssa (Conte) Cabral, Billy Conte, Josh Ambrosio, and Jessica Ambrosio; three brothers, Michael Ambrosio of California, Joseph Ambrosio of Florida, and Richard Ambrosio and wife, Norma of New York; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Catherine (Lennon) Ambrosio in 1989; a son, James Ambrosio in 1977; as well as his sister, Rae Ambrosio; and twin sisters, Tillie Rawald and Anna Martinson.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, N.H.
