Robert Edward Monfet, age 80, of Merrimac, died early Tuesday morning, December 5, 2017, at Wingate at Haverhill after a period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Juanita (Hardy) Monfet.
Born in Methuen, May 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Edward and Rose (DeOrio) Monfet and was a graduate of Tenney High School in Methuen, Class of 1955.
Bob worked as an inspector for Raytheon for 36 years, retiring in 1999.
Bob enjoyed working in his yard, taking trips to Atlantic City, cruises, trips to Maine, and was a collector of antique radio premiums. He also played in numerous Country Western bands throughout the area.
In addition to his wife, Juanita of Merrimac, he is survived by his sons, Robert Monfet and wife, Maria of Derry, N.H., Steven Monfet and wife, Kim of Laconia, N.H., and Michael Monfet and wife, Melissa of Freedom, N.H.; step-sons, Robert Buxton and wife, Bonnie, Willis "Billy" Buxton and wife, Nina, and Brian Buxton; step-daughter, Patsy Claridge; sister, Elaine Bergeron and husband, Mike of Salem, N.H.; brother, Jack Monfet of Newton, N.H.; brothers-in-law, Stanley Hardy and wife, Eunice, Lawrence Hardy and wife, Marcia; sister-in-law, Janice Fisher and husband, Charles; two cousins, Richard Belluardo and wife, Anna (Ulisse) of San Antoinio, Texas, and Thomas Belluardo and wife, Francine (Akstin) of Methuen; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. He was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda (Monfet) Hewitt, and a brother, William E. Monfet.
Visiting hours at Paul C. Rogers & Sons Family Funeral Home, 36 West Main Street, Merrimac, will be Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services at the funeral home will be held Friday, December 8, 2017, at 10 a.m. followed by burial in Locust Grove Cemetery, Merrimac.
