Robert Richard's Story
Robert Richard Cyr (Bob) passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday. He was predeceased by his parents, Blanche Ouellette and Frank Cyr, and his only brother, Frank Jr. Bob is best remembered as a quiet, strong man who generously cared for family and could build or fix anything. His love for the ocean spilled over to his children and their friends who spent countless days with him, fishing out of Newburyport. A career US Navy Chief Petty Officer, he served several tours as an aviation mechanic with Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. Usually a man of few words, he would talk for hours about the experience, if asked. Following his Naval career, Bob worked for 20 years as a USPS mail carrier. He retired to Florida in 1994. He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl White; and three sons, Robert Joel, Douglas, and Steven; his former wife, Jacqueline Cyr; and several grandchildren. He will be interned at Miramar National Cemetary in San Diego, near his daughter's home.
