Rose S.'s Story
Rose S. Young, 82, of Haverhill, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 1st.
Mrs. Young was born in Haverhill on July 7, 1935 the daughter of the late Arthur and Angelina (Pappatola) Sotirakopoulos.
She was educated in the Haverhill school system and retired from Lucent after 30 years of employment.
Mrs. Young was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Her favorite pastime was playing Bingo.
Rose was very dedicated to her church and was a life-long and active member of Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, serving on the board of directors and as a past president. She was a recipient of the Clergy Laity Award and was an integral part of the annual Greek Festival held at the church. She was a long time member of the Ladies Philoptochos, ELPIS, and a member of the Caring and Sharing Program. Her presence will be sorely missed at the Church.
Mrs. Young was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Sotirakopoulos, two sisters, Angie Ballargeon and Diana Lorenzo.
She is survived by her children, Edward J. Young III of Orlando, Fla. and Rose M. Eddy-Post of Raymond, NH., three brothers, Dino Soterakopoulos of Brentwood, NH, James Sotiracopoulos of Missouri, and Dean Sotirakopoulos of Sandown, N.H.; five sisters, Connie Biral of Florida, Mary Payne of Ohio, Antoinette Dowling of Nashua, N.H., Victory Grant of Haverhill, Anna Allen of Haverhill, two grandchildren, Douglas Eddy and Nicole Ballargeon; four great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Friday, September 8, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St., Haverhill, MA 01830. Her funeral service will be held at the Church on Saturday, September 9, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill - Bradford.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Ladies Philoptochos Society at Holy Apostles Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill, MA, 01830.
